Mason grad competing on Iowa State’s gymnastics team

Mason graduate Anna Robey begins her third season on Iowa State’s gymnastics team.

Robey, a 5-foot-3 junior, competes in the vault, balance beam and floor. In 2008, she earned Academic All-Big 12 second team, Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll and her second varsity letter.

The Cyclones return all their main contributors from last year’s squad that finished second in the Big 12 Conference and reached the program’s 12th consecutive NCAA Regional.

The Cyclones start their season Friday, Jan. 9, against Missouri.

Odom to play at Eastern Illinois

Lakota West senior Jake Odom has committed to play football at Eastern Illinois. The 5-foot-11, 255 pound defensive lineman was twice named to the Greater Miami Conference’s First Team. He also considered Hofstra, Robert Morris, Georgetown, Marion and Ohio Dominican. Odom is graduating early from West to begin his career at Eastern. Eastern Illinois is a member of the Ohio Valley Conference of the Football Championship Subdivision (formerly I-AA).

The Monroe at Preble Shawnee boys basketball game slated for tonight, Tuesday, Jan. 6, has been postponed due to inclement weather.

No make-up date has been announced.

MCS looking for players from 78-79 title team

Middletown Christian School is honoring the 1978-79 boys basketball team at halftime of the boys varsity game Jan. 13 against Troy Christian.

MCS is celebrating the 30-year anniversary of the 1978-79 team’s ACSI state championship.

MCS is having difficulty locating some of the players. If you are a member of that team or know a member of the team, contact MCS AD Ray Cox at 513-423-4542, Ext. 1331.

Lamotte leads Mason past Hamilton

Mason’s Kayla Lamotte went 10-for-10 from the field and scored a season high 22 points to lead the Comets to a 63-36 win over visiting Hamilton Saturday, January 3.

Guard Sarah Hunter added 14 for Mason and Lamotte led the Comets with 10 rebounds.

Hamilton got 10 points from Jalyn Ash.
