Rick House at Broad Street Bash
Tuesday, July 22, 2008
For this month's third Broad Street Bash on Wednesday, July 30, the Rick House Band takes the stage, and Stagger Lee returns to it.
House has long been a local favorite, not only for his work with his self-titled group, but with bands like Big in Iowa, and Used Toys.
"Rick is known as an excellent rock and roll guitar player, and the guys that complement him are professional," said Tim Lewis, who books the bands for the downtown block party.
House has even been known to sing Peter Frampton tunes, using a "talk box," the same electronic device Frampton employed on hits like "Show Me the Way" and "Do You Feel Like We Do."
"He (House) also does some Eagles tunes. One of the best songs I like that he does is 'I Need a Lover That Won't Drive Me Crazy' by John Mellencamp. He's got a great presence, and he's a great musician," Lewis said.
Stagger Lee is a country/rock band that has played at prior Broad Street Bashes. The Rick House Band and Used Toys will play at the final Broad Street Bash on Aug. 27. The next bash will be on Aug. 13 with the bands Exit 32 and Will Fluke.
