Hamilton Schools to close Monday for longtime educator’s funeral

Hamilton City Schools buildings and offices will be closed Monday so families and educators can attend funeral services for school board member and longtime Butler County educator Tom Alf.

Alf died on Wednesday morning. He was 70.

“Hamilton City Schools lost a life long Hamiltonian and district school board member, Mr. Tom Alf …,” the district said in a news release. “For over 40 years, Mr. Alf played an instrumental role in the Hamilton community and public education.”

The district said it wanted to give family members, educators and friends of the family the opportunity to attend funeral services scheduled for Monday.

Arrangements have been finalized and are as follows:

Visitation on Sunday:

Hamilton High School

1165 Eaton Avenue

2 to 6 p.m.

Funeral on Monday:

Sacred Heart Church

400 Nilles Road, Fairfield

10 a.m.
