FOOTBALL

MADISON JV STARTS WITH A WIN: The Mohawks knocked off Troy Christian 28-6 to start their season. Mason Conley scored two touchdowns, and Cliff Kendrick and Garrett Bridges also scored for Madison.

EDGEWOOD JV BEATS WITHROW, EATON: The Cougars knocked off Withrow 20-6 and Eaton 26-14 to open the season 2-0. Against Withrow, Ronnie Coates caught a pair of touchdown passes — one from Zach Fugate and one from Drew Bostic — to lead Edgewood. Bostic also threw a conversion pass to Jeremiah Turner. Jeff Bennett added a 45-yard TD run. In the win over Eaton, Bostic threw TD passes to Turner and Bennett. Fugate had a touchdown run and a conversion run, while Nick Carpenter added a TD run.

BOYS SOCCER

EDGEWOOD JV BLANKS NORTHWEST: Freshman Chayne Smink scored two goals, and Austin Radel added a single tally to lead the Cougars past the Knights on Thursday, Sept. 4. Goalkeepers Nick Truster and Brandon Maynard combined on the shutout for Edgewood.

GIRLS SOCCER

MONROE JV ROCKS CARLISLE: Gerardo Ayes scored four goals and had an assist as Monroe overpowered Carlisle 11-0 on Wednesday, Sept. 3, to raise its record to 3-0-1.
